Tremend was selected by EACEA (the Education, Audiovisual, and Culture Executive Agency) and the Directorate General for Education as its supplier for building a new and improved platform for the eTwinning and School Education Gateway platform. For this, Tremend will deploy its expertise in areas such as Drupal, Coldfusion, Moodle, eLearning, and AWS Cloud, following an overall Agile approach and methodology.
eTwinning is an integrated professional development platform for teachers, schools, and education professionals, enabling partnerships and collaboration between the schools in Europe using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The initiative is part of the Erasmus+ European program.
Tremend will contribute together with the major business stakeholders of the project (EC, content providers, National Support Offices) to maintain the current IT system, and to propose, define, and implement the next-generation integrated platform. This customized portal will interconnect with cloud-based services for regular operations and will integrate components such as a Moodle eLearning platform and NLP Text Analysis Service.
The eTwinning platform will be accessible on a wide range of devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones. It comes with a “mobile-first”, responsive interface, offering optimal user experience regardless of the device’s capabilities.
The contract with the European Commission has a duration of 4 years and an estimated budget of 3.4 million Euros.
The contract is part of Tremend’s portfolio of large complex projects for European institutions, which also includes projects such as EPALE (for EACEA, DG Education and DG Employment, Digital Skills (for DG Connect), and various other IT projects for JRC, DG Mov, EEA, DG Comm, and DG Digit.
